Midjourney’s Game-Changing Updates: What You Need to Know

- All the industry news brought to us by OpenAI.
- OpenAI proposes the use of GPT-4 for content moderation.
- OpenAI has acquired Global Illumination, a New York startup focused on AI-driven creative tools. According to the announcement, it appears that the entire team has joined OpenAI to focus on core products like ChatGPT.
- And just 2 days ago they announced ChatGPT Enterprise, which promises enterprise-grade security and privacy. It’s a very strategic move by OpenAI, aiming to “change” the name it has around data protection.
- Along with all this, an article from Analytics India Magazine talking about OpenAI’s upcoming bankruptcy in 2024 went viral. This speculation was based on the daily operating costs that ChatGPT has ($700K) and the decline in users it seemed to have during the summer months.
- YouTube announced a partnership with Universal Music as part of its Music AI Incubator program to be launched. The announcement was relatively vague, but from what we understand the goal of the program is to explore how AI can be used responsibly in the music industry. Nilay Patel has done an excellent breakdown of this, which we recommend reading.
- Would it be Sleed AI weekly if we didn’t have at least one announcement from Meta? This week we do:
- Code Llama → a fine-tuned version of Llama 2, which specializes in code generation. And of course it’s free for research and commercial use.
- SeamlessM4T→multilingualmultimodal AI model for translation and transcription. It can do speech-to-text, speech-to-speech, text-to-speech, and text-to-text translation for up to 100 languages, depending on the task.
- In addition to rebranding, the friendly Perplexity also announced a partnership with Anthropic. Now Perplexity Pro subscribers can choose between Claude 2 and GPT-4.
- TikTok now requires users to tag videos that have AI-generated “realistic scenes”.
- 70 of the top 1,000 websites decided to block GPTbot (OpenAI’s crawler). Among them are the New York Times, Amazon, Disney, Quora and WikiHow.

- Members of the US Congress attended an AI crash course at Stanford to better understand how to manage AI.
- Stephen Thaler tried to get copyright for an AI image he created with the Creativity Machine algorithm he developed, but his request was denied, as according to Federal Judge Howell only humans can have copyrights.
- According to a new report from LinkedIn since ChatGPT was released the people skills that are in the highest demand. To illustrate:
- Flexibility (+158%)
- Professional ethics (+120%)
- Social perceptiveness (+118%)
- Self-management (83%)
- An interesting paper explaining how AI detectors are biased towards those who speak English as a foreign language.
- Apparently bots, are better at solving CAPTCHA tests than humans. The irony is not lost
- More and more peer-reviewed scientific papers are being written in AI.
