The case

Nerdom is one of the top updated nerd and pop culture stores in Athens. It has a huge variety of figures, games, and all kinds of merchandise inspired by iconic movies and popular series. The e-shop nerdom.gr is the No1 spot for those looking for collectible figures and entertainment products for both kids and adults.

The collection in the physical store is constantly enriched by following new trends, while the stock of old beloved series is regularly replenished. However, transferring the variety of products from the physical store to the e-shop, providing easy search options, posed a significant challenge. Together with Nerdom, we worked strategically, prioritizing proper, SEO-optimized categorization and user experience, increasing the organic traffic of nerdom.gr by 85.24%.

The challenge

The main goal was to enhance the brand awareness and the online presence of the physical store as well as the visibility of the e-shop, so that Nerdom could rank higher in search engine results. To achieve this goal, it was important we reviewed the website’s architecture together. On nerdom.gr, the entire range of products was listed in a small number of categories that were divided according to theme rather than by the type of products that the end user might be searching for. Additionally, there were some technical SEO issues that needed to be resolved to eliminate problems that hindered visibility. It was also important to incorporate regular SEO-wise checks into the site’s maintenance routine, allowing us to proceed with technical upgrades, gradually improving all areas that affect reach and brand awareness.

Our approach

Our strategy involved removing pages that negatively impacted the ranking of our Nerdom e-shop platform, such as filter pages or site searches. We made radical changes to the robots.txt file, created an auto page-generating mechanism with SEO-optimized elements (H1, meta-titles, descriptions), and produced pages deriving from meticulous keyword research, in order to serve more long-tailed searches. We also created new, targeted sections such as Gifts’ section according to the findings of our strenuous consumers’ query research. This research resulted in consumers’ preferences data, changing due to the time of the year (Christmas, Easter), age, and gender. Continuous technical SEO audits were performed for enhancing areas like core web vitals, adding structured data to every type of page, resolving hygiene issues like 404, redirects, and more.

The outcomes

Our strategic SEO led to substantial growth in audience engagement and online visibility. Quantitatively, we witnessed +85.24% in clicks and 53% growth in keywords appearing in the top 10 keyword ranking. More impressively, we saw a YoY average click growth of 56.4% in 2024 so far. The enhancements brought on by the SEO changes also contributed to the site’s user experience, providing easily accessible and desirable content to the target audience. This project has shown the tangible benefits of a meticulously planned and executed SEO strategy, ranging from increased online visibility to a significant increase in audience engagement.
